Grab your hot chocolate, put your feet up, and get ready — because Christmas ads are well and truly HERE. And once again, I’ve taken it upon myself (purely professionally… definitely not because I enjoy it too much) to watch every ad so you don’t have to.
This year has been a mix of nostalgia, emotional storytelling, and a couple of curveballs — but that’s why we love it, right?
Here are my top 5 Christmas adverts of 2025:
5. Asda – A Very Merry Grinchmas
This year, Asda swapped Buddy the Elf for another iconic Christmas troublemaker — The Grinch. And while I love the character choice, can we talk about the voice? It’s not sitting right with me.
Still, it’s funny, cheeky, and memorable — and from a marketing standpoint, attaching yourself to a beloved character is a clever move. Even if I’m still slightly traumatised.
4. Disney – Best Christmas Ever
Disney have stuck to what they do best: a short story that feels like it could’ve been a Pixar film — think Bao but with more fairy lights. It’s warm, magical, beautifully crafted, and somehow manages to tug at emotions in under two minutes. Classic Disney sorcery.
It’s everything you expect — but in the best possible way.
3. Aldi – Kevin the Carrot: Stag Night Edition
Aldi have doubled down this year… actually no — they’ve tripled down. Kevin’s back, and this time there’s a trilogy storyline arc. Do we need it? No. Am I on the edge of my seat waiting for part 3 to drop? Absolutely.
Bonus points: I may be slightly biased because I got married this year — but the stag-do chaos, dad jokes, and commitment to the Kevin cinematic universe deserves applause.
2. Waitrose – The Perfect Gift
A mini rom-com? With Christmas vibes? And a nod to Notting Hill and Love Actually? Yes. YES. A thousand times yes.
It feels like a cosy Sunday movie distilled into 90 seconds — charming, funny, and the perfect dose of festive escapism. Waitrose understood the assignment.
1. John Lewis – Where Love Lives
Surprise, surprise the most anticipated Christmas ad of the year has taken my top spot!
John Lewis said: “No mascots. No chaos. No gimmicks. We’re doubling down on feelings.”
And honestly? It works.
It’s heartfelt, simple, and beautifully human. It goes beyond what words can say. They’ve again focused on storytelling — the kind that gives you a lump in your throat while pretending you’ve just got something in your eye.
Before I wrap up, I need one honourable mention:
Irn Bru — and yes, once again they were late at the time of writing. But tradition is tradition. When Irn Bru drop their ad, that’s when Scotland officially enters Christmas mode. Until then, we wait. Patiently.
